An Evening with Patrick Mahomes

Born and raised in Tyler, Patrick Lavon Mahomes II is a two -time Super Bowl MVP and two-time NFL MVP. He is also the starting quarterback of the reigning Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs. He attended Whitehouse High School where he was a three-sport athlete playing football, basketball and baseball.

Mahomes was a top 50 Texas high school prospect and went on to play at Texas Tech where he led the nation in total offense in both his Sophomore and Junior years. He was selected 10th overall by The Kansas City Chiefs in the 2017 NFL Draft. After becoming the Chiefs’ full-time starting QB in 2018, Mahomes broke the franchise’s single-season passing touchdown record and earned himself his first NFL MVP award. During his second season as a starter, Mahomes led the Chiefs to their first Super Bowl appearance in 50 years and his first Super Bowl ring and MVP. He has since continued to break franchise and league records including fastest to reach 100 career touchdowns (40 games). Mahomes finished the 2023 season with a career-high and league- high 5,250 yards and 41 touchdowns, he was named the NFL MVP, and tied the record for the most passing touchdowns in the post season (11) during the Chief’s Super Bowl LVII win.

Not only does Mahomes represent Kansas City in his own sport, he has also invested in other Kansas City franchises. Mahomes is a stakeholder in the Kansas City Royals (MLB), Sporting Kansas City (MLS), and recently joined wife Brittany as an owner of the NWSL’s Kansas City Current (NWSL). His passion for his community was also a driving force in establishing his foundation, 15 and the Mahomies in 2019. The foundation’s efforts are focused on improving the lives of children through providing resources and promoting health and wellness in Kansas City and across the nation.

Patrick prides himself on being a good teammate on and off the field – he and his wife, Brittany (Matthews) Mahomes married in 2021 are proud parents to Sterling, Patrick Mahomes III, and their two dogs, Steel and Silver.
